ATD Automated Tank Dewatering System
Tank dewatering is vital for maximizing crude oil storage and minimizing tank corrosion, but manual operations can be costly in terms of inaccuracy, manpower and environmental liabilities. The ATD Automated Tank Dewatering system ensures maximum storage efficiency without the danger of hydrocarbons contaminating the draw-off line.
Sold as a complete system or as individual units that users can connect to an existing PLC, the ATD uses two microwave probes to monitor water levels in the tank. Communicating with a PLC, the system controls an MOV (motor operated valve) on the draw off line–opening when water levels rise, and closing when the emulsion layer has descended to the bottom of the tank.
The KAM ATD probe is also unique in its solid body design, preventing the accumulation of paraffin or other contaminants on the probe which prevent the probe from accurately registering rising water levels.
- Solid antenna design prevents tank debris from clogging probe
- Inserts directly into the tank without the need to drain the tank
- All requisite electronics for probes housed within unit and included in unit price

CHA Colorimeter/Haze Analyzer
In refined petroleum products, color variations indicate impurities and/or the presence of trace water or haze. This contamination can be a significant liability as color differentiation can be easily detected by the end user. The CHA Colorimeter/Haze Analyzer is the ideal qualitative solution for monitoring both the color of refined products, including those with added dyes, and the presence of haze or turbidity in pipelines following the refining process. In addition, it can be used as quality control with water treatment.
Utilizing a unique 5-LED design, the CHA detects color variations within 1%, and unlike most colorimeters, it can detect the entire range of visible color as defined by CIE 1931 (International Commission on Illumination). Final color measurement can be expressed as haze plus three color (X, Y, Z) or one of several industry-standard color scales including, Saybolt, Platinum and Cobalt, and ASTM.
Turbidity or haze measurement allows refineries and pipeline operators to identify and redirect non-conforming batches.
Measurement is fully automatic, and the CHA Colorimeter/Haze Analyzer does not require site calibration. It employs long lasting LED light sources ensuring long-term, stable performance with limited maintenance and power requirements. In addition, locating the electronics within an explosion-proof enclosure directly on the atmospheric end of the optical probe creates a complete and compact unit with maximum installation flexibility. The CHA easily installs where other colorimeters, weighed down by large electronics/computer units, cannot.
A paper on Interface Detection in Liquid Pipelines, including the CHA, was presented at the International School of Hydrocarbon Management in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

CSS Complete Sampling System
A superior option to traditional BS&W technologies, the patented offers the high accuracy and repeatability of microwave measurement in a package specifically designed for custody transfer and other low range applications.
Unique to the LRW™, AnyDensity™ technology allows the instrument to compensate for any change in density across the entire API gravity range.* This is paramount in situations where a single truck or rail unloading site could see swings in API gravity from the 20’s to the 60’s.
The patented and proven microwave technology used in the LRW™ provides industry-leading accuracy – as low as ±0.03% on 0-3% models. And, high quality components made and assembled entirely in the USA provide reliable and consistent performance for long-term use. Plus, the unit can easily be calibrated in line.
With insertable and spool/flow through models, the LRW™ also offers installation flexibility that no other unit can match. Spools can be custom fabricated for lines 1-2” and lengths 21” and above. Spools also incorporate static mixing elements to ensure a homogeneous flow and manual draw-off valves key for calibration and verification. Fixed insertion and insertable models can be installed on a 2″ port perpendicular to the flow.

EcoPRO and EcoPRO+ 4-20mA Submersible Pressure Transmitter
Product DescriptionThe EcoPRO and EcoPRO+ pressure sensors are rugged and accurate with great noise immunity, transient protection, and thermal performance. These pressure sensors have been designed to provide trouble-free submersible operation in liquid environments. Pressure is measured with an extremely rugged and stable piezo-electric, media isolated pressure element and calibrated with well established calibration procedures and NIST traceable equipment. These industry standard, 2-wire, 4-20mA devices offer reverse polarity protection, under- and over-current limitation, and built-in transient protection. The EcoPRO series sensors are thermally compensated, making them great where water temperatures vary, as they are thermally stable (2% over 50 degrees standard).
Product DescriptionThe EX100/200-Series are adjustable depth insertion magmeters that fit 3” to 48” pipe (up to 72” optional). The complete lack of moving parts of the EX100/200-Series is the source of its reliability. Brass and stainless steel models withstand a variety of temperature, pressure, and chemical conditions. The EX-Series has no rotor to stop turning in dirty water and there are no bearings to wear out. Like all magmeters, when used in chemical injection applications, these meters should be installed upstream of the chemical line (or far enough downstream to allow complete mixing of fluids before the meter). Adapters mate with standard 1-1/2” (11x/21x) or 2” (15x/25x) FNPT threaded fittings such as saddles and weldolets which may be purchased either locally or from Seametrics. A rapidly reversing magnetic field is produced in the lower housing. As the fluid moves through this field, a voltage is generated that is measured and translated into a frequency signal proportional to flow rate. This square wave signal can be sent directly to a PLC or other control or can be converted using any of the Seametrics family of indicators and converters. A modular system of electronics can be installed directly on the flow sensor or mounted remotely. The FT430 (externally powered with pulse) and the FT440 (loop powered), both provide digital rate and total displays, as well as a programmable pulse; the FT440 also provides a 4-20 mA analog output. The AO55 is a blind analog (4-20 mA) transmitter. Programmable pulse for pump pacing is available with the PD10 (available as wallmounted unit only). The “hot-tap” models (EX15x/25x) can be installed or serviced without shutting down the line by means of a 2” full-port isolation valve that comes with a nipple for installation on the pipe fitting; a bronze ball valve is standard, with a 316 stainless steel valve option if needed. In most circumstances, no special tool is required.
Product DescriptionEX800-Series insertion electromagnetic flowmeters are designed for use with conductive liquids in 1 to 12” pipe. A choice of materials (stainless steel, brass, and PVC) allows the meter to adapt to a range of temperature, pressure, and corrosive environments. The EX800 is highly suitable for difficult applications with changing viscosities and pulsating flows, such as air-driven diaphragm pumps. With no moving parts, these meters can be used in “dirty water” applications where debris would foul a mechanical meter. Like all magmeters, when used in chemical injection applications, these meters should be installed upstream of the chemical line (or far enough downstream to allow complete mixing of fluids before the meter). Designed for modularity and versatility, the EX800-Series has a currentsinking pulse output that can be combined with the appropriate transmitter or indicator for the application. For basic rate/total and pulse output, the FT430 is best. For analog output and display of rate and total, the FT440 can be used. Blind analog output is provided by the AO55. The PD10 can be used to divide the pulse for pacing chemical metering pumps. Electronic modules can be wall- or meter- mounted. (Note: PD10 available only as wall-mounted unit.) If the EX800 meter is used with a programmable controller, the output signal can be fed direct, with no other conditioning required. EX800-Series fixed depth insertion meters require special fittings. Factory installation in the fitting ensures correct depth placement in the pipe. The EX800-Series meter can be ordered in a full power model when a source of electricity is available, or in a low power model that can run on an external battery with solar panel.
Product DescriptionThe EX90-series battery powered, insertion electromagnetic flow meter is designed for use with conductive fluids in 4”–12” pipe. The EX90’s stainless steel body allows the meter to operate in a wide range of temperatures, pressure, and corrosive or dirty environments. The EX90 is highly suitable for difficult applications. With no moving parts, these meters can be used in “dirty water” applications where debris would foul a mechanical meter. If the EX90 meter is used with a programmable controller, the output signal can be fed direct, with no other conditioning required. Rate and total units can be set via the front panel touch key pad by the user. Bidirectional flow is standard with totals available in forward, reverse, net, batch forward and batch reverse. The EX90 is battery powered and an output cable is available for transmitting the pulse signal to remote devices. The EX90 includes a Seametrics saddle which has been designed to accommodate a wide range of pipe sizes and types while ensuring correct placement in the pipe. In addition, an optional internal data logger allows local storage of flow history.
